Educational Qualification
Candidates must meet the following academic criteria:
- Essential Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech degree in the notified engineering streams from an AICTE-recognized institution/university.
- Eligibility for Final Year Students: Final year engineering students are eligible to apply, provided they pass their final degree examination by 1st October 2026. They must submit all semester mark sheets and the final degree certificate before joining the academy.
- Important: Degrees from foreign universities are not accepted.
Age Limit & Relaxation (as on 1st October 2026)
- Age Limit: 20 to 27 years.
- Date of Birth Range: Candidates must have been born between 1st October 1999 and 30th September 2006 (both dates inclusive).
- Age Relaxation: Applicable as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process
The selection is a rigorous multi-stage process designed to assess officer-like qualities:
- Shortlisting of Applications: Based on the cutoff percentage of marks in the qualifying degree.
- SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, which spans 5 days and includes:
- Stage-I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test & Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT).
- Stage-II: Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO), and Personal Interview.
- Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a thorough medical examination at designated Military Hospitals.
- Merit List & Joining: Final selection is based on the merit list, and selected candidates report to the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
